Cremation Services

Niagara Funeral Alternatives basic cremation package provides a complete service. It includes transportation of the deceased from the place of death to the crematorium, the cremation process, a basic urn, all registrations and filings with the province, assistance and guidance in your arrangement of memorial services and disposition of the ashes.

We also provide Proof of Death Certificates and the applications for the Canada Pension Death Benefits and Spouses Allowance.

You should also know the following:

  1. After cremation, the ashes are returned to you in our basic urn, which is a simple plastic container. This container is fully adequate for scattering, burying or retaining. Some people choose to purchase an urn, which can add $165.00 to $380.00 to this cost, depending on type and finish (pewter, wood, marble, etc).

  2. Should you wish to place Death Notices in newspapers, we will assist you with the wording and help in the placement of the notices in the papers. We do not mark-up this cost of obituaries, but we pass this cost on to you.

  3. If you wish to have the ashes buried in a cemetery plot there will be a charge to open and close the grave. (This assumes you have already purchased a grave). We will provide guidance for arrangements with the cemetery. Like the newspaper notices, we do not mark-up this cost, but we pass it on to you.

  4. Should you choose to use a church, and/or the services of a clergy-person for a graveside service, we will assist you with the arrangements and you will pay that person directly.
