Niagara Funeral Alternatives provides a complete service, that includes transportation of the deceased from the place of death to our facility and then the cemetery, all registrations and filings with the province, arrangement of memorial services and burial of the casket. We also provide Proof of Death Certificates and the applications for the Canada Pension Death Benefits and Spouses Allowance.
We are regulated by the Ontario Board of Funeral Services and due to the category in which we operate we are not allowed to take a body in a casket into a church or chapel. For our services, the body and casket must go to graveside and then burial.
You will have to add the costs for:
- vault/liner (most cemeteries require this, there are some that do not. We will check for you.)
- opening and closing of the grave (this assumes you have already purchased a grave)
and you may choose to add:
Death Notices in newspapers: we will assist you with the wording and place the notices in the papers for you. There is a cost to this, and we do not upcharge this cost, but we pass it on to you.
Should you choose to use a church, and/or the services of a clergy-person for a graveside service, we will assist you with the arrangements and you will pay that person directly.
(If you would like a chapel service but do not have regular church, we can provide you with a chapel at no charge for 1 hour. You would still pay the person who conducted the service.)
